Position Qualifications:

The Bloomington Brands finance associate will have the opportunity to work on relevant projects that will add corporate finance to your resume. The projects you will work on will not only help the profitability of Osmocote, but also give you real world, real time experience that you cannot gain in the classroom. This opportunity will be a great talking point with recruiters and help set you apart as you begin the internship interviewing process.

We seek a first-year MBA finance major who intends to make a career in corporate finance and accounting and who has a secondary interest in consumer products. This is a professional position that is expected to contribute to the strategy and the marketing of the Osmocote brand as well as handle all CFO/CIO duties of the Bloomington Brands LLC legal entity. Key financial duties include:

• Managing relationships with our public accounting, insurance and banking professional service providers.
• Partnering with finance and accounting associates at Scotts Miracle-Gro.
• Providing financial analysis of brand marketing activities.
• Preparation of the annual budget.
• Executing the monthly and year-end close to include preparation of financial statements.
• Managing the Information Technology function.
• Purchasing of office and kitchen supplies.
• Managing the payables function.
• Managing other services that may be assigned (e.g., telecommunications, landlord, associate parking, etc.).

The ideal candidate should have the ability to work as part of a team, yet should be comfortable working independently. He/she should be ambitious, passionate, professional and mature. The position requires a 12 hour per week commitment during the regular school year. Some travel (to Columbus, OH) may be required.

The primary reson for pursuing this position is the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the management of a real legal entity. Course credits may also be obtained with the permission of the Kelley School of Business.
